Emmy nominated singer/songwriter, Todd Smallwood, is an artist who bridges many musical styles. His new label, “No Borders Records”, named after the anthem of world peace he wrote with Carlos Santana, says it all. Sharing the stage with many artists including Gladys Knight, Mick Fleetwood, Sheila E, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt and Gregg Allman, Todd works as a writer, producer and performer with contemporary stars as well as the legendary greats.
Todd has recently stepped into the spotlight again with The Mick Fleetwood Band as lead vocalist/guitarist and multi-instrumentalist on their CD, "Something Big". In addition to most of the songwriting and artistic performance on the album, Todd co-produced the project with Fleetwood.
Todd earned the United Nation’s World Peace Music Award for his production, “Bridge to Havana”, (Universal) which was recorded in Havana, Cuba. The album’s single, “Feeling Good (Vacilon)”, features Gladys Knight and Edesio Alexandro and charted in the top ten on the world Smooth Jazz charts as well as in the top 25 on R&R domestic airplay in America. Todd also performs on the CD and DVD with Mick Fleetwood, Jimmy Buffett, Augusto Enriques, and Paddy Moloney on their song, "One World", slated for release as a single later this year.
He not only produced the Havana CD, but co-produced the whole historic event with Music Bridges’ Alan Roy Scott and Joel Geldermann to raise money for charity and promote world peace. “It was a labor of love for us all as a team”, Todd states as he recalls the hurdles of production and organization, including obtaining U.S. government license under the laws controlling a cultural exchange. “I only hope it will open hearts and minds and bring people of the world together. It was an uplifting and life-changing experience for every one of us.” The concert was recorded live at the Karl Marx Theatre in Havana. There is a planned second CD and documentary to be released at a future announced date.
